Training Workshop on Enhancing Capacity of Ethiopia to Address Climate Change by Focusing on Forestry and Cooperative Approaches August 5-6, 2019 Haile Resort Hawassa, Ethiopia Considering the fact that the Paris Agreement provides new opportunities to developing countries by realizing low carbon development, it is important to enhance the capacity of high education institutions such as universities. In case of Ethiopia, Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources of Hawassa University has actively sought for opportunities to develop and strengthen its teaching and research capabilities to nurture future leaders of Ethiopia in the field of climate change policy and research. In particular, KOICA funded project on enhancing capacity of Ethiopia focusing on forestry aims at providing cutting edge knowledge and research/teaching skills on forestry management, Article 6 and MRV issues of the Paris Agreement. In this context, the short-term workshop organized by Korea University and Wondo Genet College of Forestry and Natural Resources provided several opportunities to the faculty members and students of Hawassa University as follows: ● Improving current curriculum ● Sharing teaching materials that are being developed by the Project ● Sharing cutting edge knowledge on climate change ● Sharing know-hows on using lab equipment and carrying out related research/education ● Developing plans to become the Center of Excellency in the related issues ● Developing plans for the programs of training for the trainers * This is cited from KOICA Ethiopia Project Climate Change Project Website, http://climateforestry.org/
